When you want to list offerings with edoobox, categories play a crucial role. They enable the organization of your offerings within the offering tree, similar to a file system. By creating main categories and, if necessary, subcategories, you can structure your offerings effectively. This not only simplifies the management of your offerings but also their targeted categorization for presentation on your website.
Each category has its own dedicated dashboard and configuration options.
Overview
Clicking on a specific category opens its corresponding category dashboard. This dashboard provides an overview of various property areas. In addition to statistics and key figures for the offerings within this category, you get an overview of current promotions and existing notes. Furthermore, you can view the category in the standard view by clicking «Preview» or generate an integration link.
Description
The description is suitable for making your offerings informative and appealing, and for comprehensively informing your potential participants about the content and important aspects of your offerings. If all offerings within a category should share the same description, you can exclusively use the respective category description. This saves time during adjustments, as you only need to modify the description in one place, and it can be displayed in both the offering overview and the offering details. Application examples for description texts in categories and offerings can be found in this guide.
Settings
In the category settings, there are five different options that can be individually configured for each main category. In addition to the name and category image, three further settings can be made here.
Internal Code
The internal code is part of the internal function, allowing main categories to be hidden from search engines and made available only to specific user groups. All important information regarding this function can be found in this documentation.
Design
By default, each main category (and its subcategories) is assigned "no design," meaning the Standard Design is applied. However, you have the option to assign a custom design per main category (and for experienced users, also per subcategory). This assignment is useful for various application scenarios:
-
Option 1: You use different registration forms for various offer formats. These offer formats are divided into individual categories, and each is assigned the corresponding design.
-
Option 2: You have different design requirements for various offer formats and therefore use different designs.
-
Option 3: You want to use the tile view for main categories or the tile view for main and subcategories.
Prevent Multiple Bookings
This setting is disabled by default. Activating it prevents re-booking with the same data in the selected data field. This helps prevent duplicate bookings. We recommend using only data fields with unique values, such as email or phone number.
Once the offer is completed and archived, registration with the same details in this category is permitted again.
Please note that waitlist bookings are not affected by this feature. Individuals on a waitlist can register multiple times for the waitlist using the same data.
Please Note: MustPay
If you use the MustPay feature, it is possible that the multiple booking restriction can be bypassed. With MustPay, all individuals making a booking are initially placed on a waitlist and automatically move to the participant list once the offer has been paid for. During this period, an individual could book twice and would automatically be moved to the participant list with both bookings if both are paid.
