Global VAT Settings

To ensure accurate calculation and declaration of VAT for your offers, edoobox allows you to store global VAT rates. These rates can then be individually and appropriately assigned within the settings of each offer.

Prices including or excluding VAT

In the global settings, you generally determine whether the prices of your offerings already include VAT (prices including VAT) or whether it is added to the offer price (prices excluding/plus VAT).

  • Including VAT: With this setting, the final price for your customers remains the same as the specified offer price, with the VAT portion adjusted according to the selected VAT rate of the offering.

  • Excluding VAT: If you select this option, the final price for your customers will increase by the specified VAT rate, based on the offer price.

Adding VAT Rates

Since not all your offers may require the same VAT rate, edoobox enables the recording and application of different VAT rates. For each offer, you can individually determine which of the stored VAT rates is to be applied.

To add VAT rates to your edoobox account, please navigate from the main navigation via the app menu to 'Settings' and select the 'VAT' section. Here you can add the VAT rates relevant to your offers.

Click 'Add Rate' to create a new VAT rate. An editing window will open.

  1. Define Description: Enter a clear description for the new VAT rate. This will facilitate easier assignment and management later on.

  2. Enter VAT Number: Enter the applicable VAT number.

  3. Specify Tax Rate: Set the tax rate as a percentage. This rate will be applied to the prices of your offerings.

  4. Select Country: Determine the country for which this tax rate should be valid.

  5. Reverse Charge (B2B): The reverse-charge mechanism may apply to certain tax rates. Further information can be found in this documentation.

  6. Set as Default: Select this option if you wish to set a specific VAT rate as the default for your offerings.

  7. Activate and Add: Once all settings have been configured, activate the new rate and add it to your system.

It is always possible to subsequently adjust or deactivate existing VAT rates.

Please Note: Changes to Existing Bookings

Please note that if a VAT rate is subsequently changed for existing bookings, the VAT rate will not be automatically updated. In such cases, the booking must be canceled and re-created.

Reverse-Charge Information Text for Invoices

In instances where the reverse-charge procedure is applicable, a specific explanatory note must be included on invoices. You have the flexibility to customize this informational text.

Integration of VAT Rates into Your Offerings

To learn how to apply the newly created VAT rates to your offerings, please visit the documentation: Price Categories and VAT in Individual Offerings. If you anticipate international bookings for your offerings, the GeoDynamic VAT function may also be useful to correctly adjust tax calculation to the participant's country.

Info: Default VAT Rate

When a new offering is created, edoobox checks whether the country of the default tax rate matches the country of the organization (configured under "Settings → Organization"). If this is the case, the default VAT rate is automatically applied as the tax rate for the offering. Otherwise, no VAT rate is assigned to the offering.
